"The Masked Singer" is returning to Fox this coming fall, and they are preparing for their biggest season ever. As the show approaches its landmark tenth season, the celebration is hitting an all-time high.
For those who do not know, unscripted formats like "The Masked Singer" are unaffected by the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA Strike.
'The Masked Singer' Season 10 Details
In an exclusive People Magazine report, "The Masked Singer" revealed that an "Anonymouse" will be perhaps the show's biggest mystery.
Anonymouse will be performing on the first episode of Season 10, and is being considered as "one of the biggest, can't-miss unmaskings in the show's history."
The mystery singer can be heard singing Heart's "What About Love."
However, this isn't the only thing fans can anticipate this season. "The Masked Singer" alumni from its past seasons will also be returning to the stage to give out their high-power duet performances.
Among those are actress Rumer Willis, NBA player Victor Oladipo, Barry Zito, NSYNC's Joey Fatone, rapper Bow Wow, and even Destiny's Child Michelle Williams.
Players for Season 10 are also revealed - Hibiscus, Anteater, Hawk, Donut, and S'More.
Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger return as the show's guessers, as well as Nick Cannon who hosts the show.
"The Masked Singer" will be premiering on Sep. 10, 2023, right after the NFL Double Header on Fox.
Is 'The Masked Singer' Affected By The SAG-AFTRA Strike?
According to On Camera Audiences, the official ticket source for "The Masked Singer," the ongoing SAG-AFTRA Strike won't officially affect the show's casting.
"We want to clarify that the applicable SAG-AFTRA Agreement for The Masked Singer is the SAG-AFTRA National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting (aka Network Code), which does not expire until June 30, 2024. The Network Code is a wholly separate collective bargaining agreement from the SAG-AFTRA Basic Agreement and Television Agreement, the agreement SAG-AFTRA has been negotiating with the AMPTP," they clarified.
Screen Rant also echoed that the strike doesn't prevent actors from appearing on shows like "The Masked Singer" but even without their presence, the show can still go through as they can get singers, athletes, politicians, and other celebrities not bound by the SAG.
To put it simply, unscripted formats are bound by a different contract from the Network Television Code, which means SAG performers can still work on variety shows, talk shows, game shows, competition shows, and non-theatrical documentaries. (via Wrap Book)
