Reports of a Billy Porter and Anna Wintour feud have emerged in the past month when the former seemed to take a jab at the Vogue Editor-in-Chief in an interview with The Telegraph.
At the time, Porter was blunt in his disapproval of Vogue's choice in choosing Harry Styles as the first man to become a cover of the fashion magazine.
Speaking about the unconventional choice, Porter spoke ill of Wintour, who gets to decide who will be invited to the annual gala.
Billy Porter Met Gala Invitation Revoked
According to a Radar Online source, Billy Porter's Met Gala invitation has been revoked.
"The repercussions of Porter's big mouth have been swift and decisive, as his invitation to the all-important Met Gala was revoked and his once-favorable standing with top-tier designers has been shaken," the source said.
This was quite shocking since Porter has been regarded as a fashion icon as much as he is a queer icon. Sadly, his words toward Anna came with consequences on his reputation in the industry.
"While Billy is a sensation on the fashion scene, the designers have rallied behind Anna, a true titan of the industry," the source added.
As of this writing, no statement or release has been made officializing such pronouncement. Meanwhile, Porter has yet to react to the news.
Why Did Billy Porter Called Anna Wintour a 'Bitch'?
The animosity between Porter and Wintour was exacerbated by his disapproval and distaste for having Styles as the first male cover of the magazine.
"It doesn't feel good to me. You're using my community - or your people are using my community - to elevate you. You haven't had to sacrifice anything," he told The Telegraph about Styles.
But their disagreement runs deep. Recalling the conversation to the publication, Porter suggested that Wintour use her "power as Vogue to uplift the voices of the leaders of this de-gendering of fashion movement."
He was surprised when Wintour asked something in return: "That bitch said to me at the end, 'How can we do better?' And I was so taken off guard that I didn't say what I should have said,"
Porter has a huge issue with Styles being the magazine cover as it was bigger than him.
"This is politics for me. This is my life. I had to fight my entire life to get to the place where I could wear a dress to the Oscars and not be gunned down. All he has to do is be white and straight," he explained to The Sunday Times.
