VMAs Album of the Year, Song of the Summer Pretty Much Like The Grammys?
According to The Recording Academy, the 2024 Grammy Awards eligibility period covers recordings released from Oct. 1, 2022, through Sep. 15, 2023.
This means that every nominee on the Album of the Year at the 2023 VMAs, except "Renaissance" as it was released in July 2022, would be eligible and are current frontrunners for the Album of the Year category at the Grammy Awards.
Similarly, the Song of the Summer nominees could also be a precursor for the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories at the Grammys.
Songs like "What Was I Made For," "Dance The Night Away," and "Barbie World," from the "Barbie" Soundtrack are huge contenders, and so are SZA's "Kill BIll," and even Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" and "Karma."
