In a recent interview, Selena Gomez seemed to make mention of her relationship with Justin Bieber. Could she still be pining for her ex, despite "Single Soon' success?

The "Baby" hitmaker and the 31-year-old pop sensation were connected, and they had an intermittent relationship until 2018, when Justin Bieber revived his marriage to Hailey Bieber.

Many admirers think that Selena addressed their final separation in her first chart-topping track, "Lose You to Love Me," which came out the following year, even though it has never been proven.

n a recent interview, she seems to make reference her ex. Selena mentioned during her speech at the Twilio SIGNAL 2023 conference how "heartbreak" has influenced her new music.

"I wanted to be there for every woman, man, or person going through that journey, so I immediately wrote my best music when I was going through a heartbreak," the singer stated.

"Lose You to Love Me," which Selena afterwards referred to as her favorite song, was the subject of the remark, according to Elle.

Further on her creation through pain, she said, "I try my hardest to say at least they're not alone, and if I keep going, hopefully that means someone else can keep going because I don't want to always do it but I want to for them more so than myself at times, but I'm a work in progress, and it's just one day at a time."

Still, she has obviously moved on!

In fact, being single is Selena Gomez's greatest life (if her summer hit song "Single Soon" didn't tell you that).

She discussed her particular dating needs when she appeared on SiriusXM's Hits 1 LA, claiming that she's not really "high maintenance." She just has standards, and she doesn't hesitate to state them! "I think I have standards, and I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high maintenance," Sel said, going on to add "I'm not ashamed to say, 'I actually require X, Y, and Z for you to be with me.'"

Boys need not worry, because the requirements are not that hard -- if you were born nice, that is.

"You gotta be cool, man," Selena explained. "Not cool in the sense that people think you're cool. You just gotta be nice and like, please make me laugh and also just be good to my family and people around you."
