Country Songs A Hit In 2023
Notably, Country music has experienced a huge surge in consumption this 2023. Billboard data revealed that it was up 20.3% in the first 26 weeks of 2023, growing 2.5% on last year's genre consumption.
Since Wallen first topped the charts this year, three more Country songs have topped it - Jason Aldean's controversial "Try That In A Small Town," Oliver Anthony's overnight working class anthem, "Rich Men North of Richmond," and Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves recent country-rock collaboration, "I Remember Anything."
When Aldean clinched his first No. 1 last July 2023, it became a huge accomplishment for the Country genre as for the first time since the Billboard charts were made, it was the first time that three country songs have led the chart - Aldean at #1, Wallen at #2, and Combs at #3.
