A psychologist has suggested that Britney Spears' new tattoos may have arisen as a result of her anguish over her divorce.
He theorized that these inkings could signify a vulnerable mental state on the singer's part.
This past Saturday, Britney offered a glimpse into her expanding array of body art when she posted an Instagram Reel.
But on Friday, the "Baby One More Time" unveiled a fresh snake tattoo on Instagram.
Following that, in her latest video, she displayed a new pink star tattooed on her right arm.
Speaking candidly, Britney conveyed her enthusiasm: "My new snake tattoo, guys. I'm so stoked!"
Dr. Josh Klapow, PhD, a clinical psychologist who spoke with The Sun was not surprised by the news of this fresh ink.
He explained, "Given Britney's turbulent past and divorce proceedings, it is unsurprising that she chose to get a new tattoo."
He went on to explain that despite the privileges she enjoys, from access to talented tattoo artists to a substantial level of wealth, the designs on her new tattoos are surprisingly plain.
"Puzzlingly so. It's almost as though something isn't quite right with them."
Dr. Josh discussed the "Toxic" singer's new tattoos and noted the childlike appearance they have.
"The star on her forearm looks like something a young person could have drawn," he commented.
He also remarked that the snake tattoo in the middle of her back is not highly intricate.
Following Britney Spears' divorce from Sam Asghari got a series of new tattoos, and some people have interpreted them in an almost regressed or childlike light.
On August 16,Sam Asghari - Britney's husband of 14 months - filed for divorce.
TMZ reported the reason was due to "irreconcilable differences."
Various rumors circulated, such as disagreements between them escalating into arguments, cheating claims being made, and Britney displaying her nude body.
According to several different reports, Britney Spears and her former husband had a troubled relationship throughout their marriage.
Klapow, the founder of MentalDrive, clarified: "Being in the public eye can heighten a divorcé's distress."
The emotional fallout from a divorce can be immense, and getting a tattoo afterward is not an uncommon response, he added.
"For Britney, wearing something symbolic serves as a reminder of the significant experiences she has gone through. This helps her to process her emotions and come to terms with them."
The expert also explained that the tattoos the pop princess has are indicative of an individual displaying age-regression, wherein they act, think, and behave in a manner more appropriate to their earlier years than what is expected for someone at their current stage of life.
He further noted that Britney's conduct is more indicative of a teenager than that of an adult woman. Nevertheless, it does not mean her capacity for understanding is on the same level. As she left the conservatorship and her divorce, there was something remarkable about her behavior.
