Olivia Rodrigo's sexuality has been put under the microscope after some fans of her believed that the song "Lacy" was a love letter for a woman.

Rodrigo's "Guts" has been critically acclaimed not more than 48 hours since it was released on all streaming platforms.

Olivia Rodrigo 'Lacy' Lyrics Meaning

Blessing her fans with more fodder on her relationship, Rodrigo seemed to suggest her real sexuality in one of her songs, "Lacy."

Time Magazine noted that "Lacy" is "thematically evoking" Dolly Parton's hit "Jolene" because of how the song details her inferiority and insecurity about a woman, who later on she breathtakingly described with beauty and envy.

Fans have three conclusions on who could the woman be - Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, or a woman she has been crushing on.

In the song, Rodrigo sang about the woman, describing her having "eyes wide as daisies" and being a "dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate." Fans thought that these seemed to perfectly describe Swift, some of those also believed that "Vampire," the lead single of the album, was a jab toward Swift.

The past few months have been quite controversial between Rodrigo and her idol Taylor Swift. She was asked numerous times about an alleged drama between them, which she dismissed multiple times, gushing about her subtly.

Sabrina Carpenter is also another ongoing theory. For those who do not know, a huge theory among fans and social media said that Carpenter was also the "blonde girl" that Rodrigo talked about on "driver's license."

In the song, Rodrigo sang about the woman wearing ribbons, which Carpenter is quite well known about. Also, the "Bardot reincarnate" line also fits on Carpenter's blonde locks.

Olivia Rodrigo Sexuality: Is Singer Gay?

Some fans thought that the song was actually about an unnamed woman that Rodrigo seemed to crush on. While she sings about how the woman made her insecure and also describes her beautifully, some people on social media suggest that her lyricism on "Lacy" gives off a homoerotic tinge.

"olivia rodrigo coming out with her song "lacy" was not on my bucket list but i'm so here for it," a fan shared.

However, some people defended Rodrigo, saying that although some may perceive the song to be sapphic and queer-coded, it does not give them the right to pressure Rodrigo in disclosing her sexuality.

"to get MY opinion straight. lacy is very queer coded and i can see a sapphic storyline written from it, its so sapphic coded and i can relate my own relationship to it but its sickening that ppl are using that to assume that olivia is coming out. please learn your boundaries," someone defended.

"funny how lacy is not once mentioned as a girl but all of u think olivia is coming out," another tweeted.

Even before, Rodrigo is not one who discloses what her songs are about. When asked by The Guardian if "Vampire" was about Swift, Rodrigo had this to say:

"I mean, I never want to say who any of my songs are about. I've never done that before in my career and probably won't."
