Jennifer Hudson Bio
Jennifer Kate Hudson was born on September 12, 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. Hudson began pursuing her passion in singing as a child. The then aspiring singer first sang in her church as a little girl, as per All Music. While Jennifer was growing up, she eventually participated in different talent shows and school musical productions.
Not too long afterwards, Jennifer landed a role in a local Chicago production version of the musical, "Big River". Before she embarked on a professional music career, Hudson was a regular singer at the Disney Wonder cruise ship. In the cruise ship, word has it that Jennifer played the role of a muse off the animated film, "Hercules."

In 2004, Hudson auditioned as one of the contestants in "American Idol" season three. Jennifer lost out to AI season three winner, Fantasia Barrino, though.

Hudson did not let her loss in "American Idol" stop her from pursuing a career in the entertainment business. Jennifer's acting debut breakthrough came when she landed the role of Effie White in "Dreamgirls." Not too long after completing this project, Jennifer began to work on her debut album. The said album featured famous collaborators, who, included Stargate, Missy Elliott, Ludacris, T-Pain, and Fantasia. Jennifer's self-titled first album (released in 2008) broke into the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Arista/J records released the said AI alum's chart-topping album.
In early 2009, Jennifer Hudson won a Grammy award for Best R & B album for her performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl, and having had gone on tour with Robin Thicke.

Hudson was notably famous for having performed the highly acclaimed song, "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going." Jennifer's performance of this song led her to be awarded with a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
Jennifer released her second studio album, "I Remember Me" in March 2011. This album spawned off the single, "Where You At."
