A former member of the hip-hop collective known as the ASAP Mob has filed legal action against rapper and group leader, ASAP Rocky.
Allegedly stemming from an altercation in Hollywood in November last year, ASAP Relli accuses his former compatriot of shooting him.
In addition to suing Rocky, the father of two, he had also decided to take legal action against his high-profile lawyer, Joe Tacopina, per TMZ. It was alleged that this person had defamed him by what was said in the media.
Despite the ongoing criminal investigation, Rocky has vigorously denied the charges brought against him in court.
Relli expresses disapproval for Tacopina's tactics during his campaign to defend the rapper, describing him as a "liar," "money grabber," and an "extortionist."
The outcome of Relli's campaign has been nothing short of daunting. Reports of death threats and constant online harassment have made him seek professional help to manage his deteriorating mental health.
In response to the lawsuit, Tacopina has declared it a mere attempt to gain recognition.
He denounced the case by terming it "nothing more than a publicity stunt which will backfire badly." The plaintiff of the suit is seeking punitive damages and legal fees.
In response to the lawsuit, Tacopina released a statement to Rolling Stone, stating his enthusiasm for the case.
"Without a resolution in the criminal matter yet, this civil suit presents a great opportunity," he said. He further explained that it could uncover deception on behalf of his opposition and cause them to be liable for legal fees.
