Fletcher updated fans about her ongoing health battle as she canceled her upcoming tours.
The singer - born Cari Elise Fletcher - confirmed in May she would hold shows in Australia and New Zealand to support her album, "Girl of My Dreams." However, she postponed her plans for now as she started her treatment for her ongoing health struggles.
What Happened to Fletcher?
On Wednesday, Fletcher announced on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. She shared photos of her recent doctor's visit, during which she learned about the illness.
"I started becoming increasingly ill over the last couple of years and just kept pushing even though I knew there was something deeper going on," she captioned the post. "For the last few months I've been receiving treatments, following doctor's orders and doing my best to learn more about this invisible illness."
Fletcher noted that Lyme disease has affected her not only on her physical body but also on her voice.
The borrelia bacteria-caused illness has also affected several celebrities over the past years, including Bella Hadid, Shania Twain, Kelly Osbourne, Avril Lavigne and Alec Baldwin, among others.
As a result, the "Becky's So Hot" singer decided to postpone her tours in Europe and Australia to focus on her health. She also expressed her heartbreak as she also canceled her supposed appearance at Corona Capital.
Fletcher Promises To Return Stronger
Although she had to put herself first for now, Fletcher reminded everyone that she would soon give the best show everyone deserves.
She told her fans and followers she would use her time off to rest, heal and take care of her body.
"I am extremely grateful and I can't wait to perform for you bigger and better...and most importantly, stronger than every next year," Fletcher concluded her statement. "But for now, I want to thank you for listening and thank you for all of your endless love and support. I love you all so much. Please take good care of yourselves."
Fletcher's "Girl of My Dreams" tour was supposed to make a stop at the Auckland Town Hall on November 29 before the schedules at the Hodern Pavilion, The Forum, Fortitude Music Hall and Metro City commence in December.
