Sia revealed the reason behind her sudden disappearance from the music industry was because of her deteriorating mental health.
"I got divorced and that really threw me for a loop," the "Cheap Thrills" singer said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.
"That was such a dark time that I was in bed for three years, really, really severely depressed. And so I couldn't really do anything for that period of time."
Despite her time off the recording studio, Sia did not stop writing songs, which is exactly how she was able to come up with an album so quickly.
"Well, actually, the truth is that I had just been every now and again writing a song here or there for the last six, seven years," she continued.
Sia Dropping New Album Soon
According to reports, Sia is gearing up to release a new album, after eight years, titled "Reasonable Woman."
Apparently, all the songs she wrote during her time off accumulated and were enough to be an entire new album on its own, which is exactly how it came to be.
"And then, finally, it just turned out we had enough songs to make an album, enough good ones," she continued.
The "Titanium" singer went on to hint that her upcoming album's tracklist will boast 12 to 13 songs.
"So I just rely on my management to tell me when we've got enough good ones because I don't really... I can tell when I think one is particularly good, I think I can tell, but they tell me when we've got 11 or 12 or 13 enough good ones, real good ones."
Sia alsp just released a new single in support of the album, "Gimme Love." The song is now available on YouTube and other music streaming platforms online.

Sia's Divorce
Sia, unlike other artists, is relatively private about her personal life, but her music seems to speak for itself.
She was first known as the artist who covered her face by wearing a huge wig during performances; this is to boost her confidence and it also provided her comfort, reports say.
Not a lot is known about Sia and her ex-husband, but she did surprise fans by getting married to her boyfriend, Dan Bernard in Portofino, Italy last May.
