Madison Beer detailed how Lana Del Rey helped her as a friend, idol, mentor, and fellow artist as she crafted and curated her new album "Silence Between Albums."
"I've always felt like that's so f**king weird, and I hate that. I've never looked at other girls, really, as competition," Beer said.
However, for the singer, Del Rey is not like other girls-she is not like other artists as well. In fact, she is everything Beer has hoped for in a friend and idol.
"Meeting Lana was just so huge for me because the phrase, 'Never meet your idols,' that's just not true when it comes to someone like her," she continued.
"She's just incredible, and she's been so supportive, so there for me as a friend, an idol, a supporter of my music and of me as a person."
Madison Beer Reflects on Music Career
Following the release of her new album, Beer reflected on what it is like being a female artist in a very competitive industry.
"There have, unfortunately, been people I've met that I've loved that I've been like, 'Oh, f**k, I don't have your support because you might look at me and not want me to win because something in your head thinks that if I win, you lose,' and that's just not how I am," the singer explained.
She then went on to reveal how the "Summertime Sadness" singer is different, and how she breaks the status quo of being a "competing artist."
"When I've been going through something, I will literally go to her to reach out," Beer added. "She's just a very special person, and I really, really adore her."

Madison Beer Receives Support For New Album
When Beer was coming up with her new album, she admitted that she struggled with making new music, and even experienced a "full-blown meltdown," Variety reported.
Aside from Del Rey, Beer also received support from Leroy Clampitt, her producer who hails from New Zealand.
"She felt so strongly about it and I trusted her," Clampitt recalled. "If she doesn't think it's right then we go back to the drawing board. We regained the idea together - went through what a new version might look like, what was working and what wasn't working."
The pair have been working together for quite some time now. Their first project was "Home With You," released in 2018, and Beer's first charting single.
