Olivia Rodrigo's lyrics have been prodded, examined, fleshed out, and inspected by her fans and most people on the internet. "Vampire" poked everyone's brain as people tried to find out who the mystery person that Rodrigo was referring to in the gripping chorus.
Among the persons that people conclude the song was about was Zach Bia, Rodrigo's ex-boyfriend. Now, Bia has clarified once and for all, if the song was actually about him, well, based on his experience.
'Vampire' Lyrics Explained: Zach Bia Says It's Not Him
Speaking to GQ Magazine, Zach Bia says the song "Vampire" by his ex-girlfriend Olivia Rodrigo wasn't actually about him.
Bia was asked with one of the internet's most-burning questions - was "Vampire" about him?
"I don't think it's really about me," Bia told the publication. "I think the internet just ran with it."
Expounding his thoughts, Bia furthered that being in the industry, he knows how songs get made.
"Firmly denying" people's interpretation and conclusion, he noted that their 6-month relationship wouldn't merit a full song, much less of a banger like that.
"We hung out, we're both busy, and we ended up not furthering our relationship. There was never any drama, you know?" he explained.
However, some of the lyrics still tend to point towards Bia.
In "Vampire's" lyrics, Olivia mentioned a similar time frame - "Six months of torture you sold as some forbidden paradise" - which would probably suggest that it could still be out him.
GQ Magazine's unnamed source cast doubt on Bia's suggestion that the song was not about him.
Despite this, Bia is supportive of Rodrigo and her roaring success in the music industry.
"Look, the momentum of a song is so special. I think Olivia is a generational songwriter. I think she's a generational talent. I'm always just proud of her continued accomplishments," he raved about his ex-girlfriend.
