Megan Thee Stallion never meant for her most recent duet with Cardi B, "Bongos," to "top" the WAP charts since she doesn't "really care" about the charts. In fact, she does not think about comparing the two songs at all, because according to her, she and Cardi B were different girls when they were doing "WAP."

The rappers, according to the "Hot Girl Summer" hitmaker, are "different" individuals now than when they released the controversial and explicit hit song in 2020. She also says she would never release a song solely to make it popular.

Megan Thee Stallion stated that she knows for herself that she does not make music with any expectations, in a Billboard interview.

She added that she's not very interested in charts and other like things. Naturally, everyone aspires to be the best; everyone wants to triumph; everyone wants to grant their supporters this privilege of pride. However, she does not compose music with the mindset of "Oh, I gotta top this" or "Oh, we have to be better than the last time."

Rather, she shared that she just makes music because she loves to make music.

She said that the atmosphere need not be the same between that last successful song to this new one. That was its magnificent moment all by itself. That was its function at the time.

She explained that they were not even in the same headspace, so she was truly not expecting it to be anything like 'WAP,'" she went on.

She added that who she was in WAP was probably COVID at work. Case in point, they were taping in the house.

Now that they are outside, they get to do things differently. She added that it is time for everyone to experience a shift in emotion.

Personally, Stallion said she had never recorded over a beat like that, so when [Cardi] handed her this song, she was ecstatic. "I never rapped to anything like that, and I felt like it was a challenge. I was like, 'Oh, this is something new. OK, girl, you want me to go to work today, I got you!," she explained.

Megan's latest album is a completely different story from her last one, 'Traumazine' from 2022, which dealt with legal issues and her experience of getting shot by Tory Lanez. Regarding her upcoming album, she hinted, saying, "It's coming very soon."

She teased of her new album, "I'm really excited about this chapter of my life because I feel like I'm finally closing all the old chapters, and now I'm starting with a blank slate. Very fresh, very new. I think Thee Hotties are gonna be so excited. I'm trying different things. I got a lot of things that I produced with Ju and with some new producers."
