Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson New Album 2023: 'The Mandrake Project' To Be Supported by Tour, Despite Singer's Stroke

Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden has revealed the details of his first solo album in nearly twenty years. The follow-up to 2005's "Tyranny of Souls,"

"The Mandrake Project," will be released by the heavy metal legend in 2024. He claims that the process of creating it has been quite "personal."

"This album has been a very personal journey for me and I am extremely proud of it. Roy Z and I have been planning, writing and recording it for years, and I am very excited for people to finally hear it. As for what The Mandrake Project actually is... all will be revealed soon!," he said.

Bruce Dickinson intended to tour in support of the record.

"I'm even more excited at the prospect of getting out on the road with this amazing band that we have put together, to be able to bring it to life. We're planning to play as many shows as we can in as many places as possible, for as many people as we can!," he shared.

The announcement of Bruce's record follows Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain's revelation that he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed months before the group began tour preparations.

The 71-year-old rock star told fans he feared his career was finished when he spoke for the first time about his health issue last month. In January, he lost movement on the right side of his body.

Ahead of his group's "The Future Past Tour 2023," he posted a video statement on Instagram, following 10 weeks of "intense therapy," stating that the reason he is writing to his fans is to let them know of a very serious health problem that he has been through."

He said that he is fortunate that the stroke in January was a minor one called a transient ischemic attack (TIA).

It rendered him paralyzed, but with the love and support of his wife, Rebecca, and her family, as well as his doctors-especially Julie, his occupational therapist-he was able to recover to a point that was over 70%.

He said he is primarily focused on completing my job and getting back to 100% fitness, and felt it necessary to let them know about this now rather than later.

The singer that he's not in his healthiest yet, but he's getting stronger and better every week with God's help. "

"Thank you all for a most wonderful and magical tour so far, you have all been so amazing," he wrote.

"Well that's it from me. God bless you all, stay safe and well and I look forward to seeing you all somewhere in time," he ended his emotional message.
