Megan Thee Stallion Dropped Out of Global Citizen Music Festival
Earlier this September 2023, Megan Thee Stallion dropped out of the headlining act of the annual Global Citizen Music Festival, providing no reason as to why she tapped out.
According to a recent report from Page Six, she got a better deal than to raise funds to save the planet - she was offered to do a performance act for Beyoncé on her Houston stop of the "Rennaissance" tour.
Depending on who you would ask, that seemed to be a bigger deal than the other, as the two both hailed from Houston, Texas.
Apparently, sources revealed that Megan Thee Stallion's team had a scheduling snafu and booked the same Saturday for both the music festival and Beyoncé's Houston stop - and now, we know which one is more important for Hottie.
At the time when the reports emerged, it was still not confirmed whether Megan would actually appear on the "Renaissance" tour stop.
Last Sep. 23, 2023, she made it happen.
Megan Thee Stallion Performs With Beyoncé On 'Renaissance' Houston Stop
Besides clearly dethroning Atlanta Day 1 as the current winner of the Mute Challenge, Beyoncé's Day 1 of her "Renaissance" Houston stop was exceptional, to say the least.
Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were in attendance, and so were Normani and Lizzo, among many others.
"Do we have any savage ladies and gentlemen in the house tonight?" Beyoncé asked the crowd. "Please give it up for Houston's own Megan Thee Stallion." (via Variety)
The two went on to perform their Grammy-winning mix.
"Don't she make you proud, Houston? She makes me proud," Megan shouted. "I love you Beyoncé."
Megan Thee Stallion has been rubbing shoulders with The Carters for a while now, as Megan signed with Roc Nation, JAY-Z's management company. Their partnership was even marred with controversy as it got entangled with Meg's label issue with 1501 Entertainment and Tory Lanez's assault trial.
Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for "Savage (Remix)" at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
