Rod Wave has done it again for the third time as his newest album, "Nostalgia," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo's "Guts" was bumped to No. 2 this week.
Rod Wave 'Nostalgia' Billboard 200
According to Billboard, Rod Wave ties with Taylor Swift as the only solo artist to have claimed a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in the past three years.
Rod Wave debuted both "SoulFly" in 2021 and "Beautiful Mind" in 2022. "Nostalgia" officially marks Wave's third No.1 album and her sixth Top 10 album.
Per Luminate, Rod Wave's "Nostalgia" was powered by 137,000 album-equivalent units, driven primarily by 135,000 streaming units, tallying 187.51 streams nationwide in its first-week frame. Album sales are low with only 1,500 units and 500 units from the 13 tracks.
Notably, it is the third-largest debut streaming week for an R&B or hip-hop album in 2023
Aside from Rod Wave's "Nostalgia," there weren't any more debuts on the Billboard 200 Top 10.
Olivia Rodrigo 'Guts' Billboard 200
With Rod Wave debuting at No. 1, Olivia Rodrigo's critically acclaimed sophomore album, "Guts," was bumped to No. 2, this week.
It only logged 134,000 album-equivalent units, 3,000 units short in claiming what would have been her two-consecutive week stay at the top. It was down by 56% compared to its debut frame, which made the album Rodrigo's biggest one so far.
Billboard 200 Top 10
Former No. 1s followed Rod Wave and Rodrigo.
Zach Bryan's country-rock self-titled remains sturdy at No. 3, while Morgan Wallen's country smash album, "One Thing At A Time" is a non-mover at No. 4. SZA's "SOS" switched with Travis Scott's "Utopia" at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Meanwhile, Hits Daily Double predicts that Rodrigo will claim back her spot on next week's chart as the ticket selling for her "Guts" World Tour would have definitely powered it back again to claim its second nonconsecutive reign at the top of the charts. Talk of The Charts also projected the same return.
Meanwhile, Doja Cat's "Scalet" is only projected to land a No. 10 debut with a 50,000 - 55,000 album unit debut next week. This is quite shocking considering the controversy, hype, and attention that the album received earlier this year.
