BLACKPINK's fate grows more uncertain as the days go on, and fans are both worried and supportive of the KPOP girl group.
According to recent reports, two members of the group, Jennie and Jisoo, have decided to leave YG Entertainment and start their own labels as well as handle their own projects and activities.
However, the KPOP girl group's agency and label came forward to deny the reports: "Nothing has been confirmed regarding BLACKPINK's contract renewals and their future activities."
Fans could not help but make fun of the entertainment company: "YG still in denial," one wrote with sobbing emojis.
Meanwhile, some fans were supportive of the two members for stepping up for themselves and taking control over their own careers.
"This is actually pretty good news if true as they essentially control when their promotions overlap,' a fan wrote. "If it turns out to be true then the ball is essentially in the court of the girls whenever there is a group comeback. YG might be petty though..."
The drama surrounding YG Entertainment and the four members of BLACKPINK has been going on for well over a month now. It started in August when their individual contracts expired.
BLACKPINK Contracts with YG Entertainment
Fans were initially worried that BLACKPINK would be disbanding and pursuing solo careers especially after a month has gone by and there are still no confirmations on what is really going on behind the scenes.
"Honestly, I've moved on. I've accepted they're more bound to disband," a fan wrote disheartedly.
"If I were YG the perfect compromise would be giving these girls their own one-woman-company under the YG umbrella and letting them manage their solo activities."
As of this writing, the only member who is confirmed to have renewed her contract with YG Entertainment is Rose.
Member Lisa's standing with the rest of the group, and with the company is still unknown and unconfirmed.
BLACKPINK Disbanding?
According to reports, despite all of YG Entertainment's statements denying the allegations and rumors, fans-as well as investors-are already convinced that the KPOP girl group is headed for disbandment.
"They are still in talks with YG Entertainment regarding BLACKPINK as a group, so it is possible that their respective agencies will be focused on their solo schedules," a report noted.
If the group does not end up disbanding, there is still a chance that they establish the group under a different management instead, which is exactly what fans are hoping for.
