Attending metal shows in the present might be overwhelming for some as there could be mosh pits for fans to jump up and down, and even slightly push each other aside, but Dave Mustaine recently recalled that it was way more wild back in the day.
The musician, who is a part of the metal band Megadeth, had been a part of the group for decades now and he considers thrash as an underground subgenre of metal.
In an interview with Metal Hammer, the musician revealed that in the past, thrash shows were "out of control" as the public still had no idea what "moshing" was.
Since the term was pretty new back then, there were no protocols in place, meaning people were free to do whatever they want while their favorite band or artists perform on stage.
"They weren't familiar with crowdsurfing. Kids would just jump up on the stage and there was no stagediving protocol," he added. (via Loudwire)
Dave Mustaine Says Thrash Concerts in the Past Were More Different
He added that there were way worst moments for bands to perform as some people would literally run to the artist performing on stage and grab the microphone.
"They'd bang into your guitar or try to scream into the mic. Then someone would shove them off the stage. It was pure balls-to-the-wall metal insanity," he added.
Times have changed back then and most venues for concerts around the world have already put some protocols in place to ensure not just the safety of attendees, but also the artists themselves.
Dave Mustaine Previously Called Out a Fan During Concert
Things might be different back in the day and it appears that Mustaine had no choice but to continue performing at the time.
However, since there had been a lot of changes, the singer is not afraid to call out people with unruly behavior at his shows.
He did it earlier this year when he publicly called out a drunken fan an threatened to kick them out of the venue if they don't behave properly.
In a video posted on Reddit, Mustaine was on stage at his Stockholm show where he challenged a drunken fan, saying he'd like to see if he could play better than him.
"If I have to say it one more time, I'm gonna ask security to take your f****** drunken ass out of here, do you hear me?" he threatened.
