Katy Perry just served fans with a curveball they never expected: she will be taking part of the hit kids show, "Peppa Pig," for its 20th-anniversary commemoration.
"We're incredibly thrilled to have such an A-list talent join the family-fun adventures in Peppa Pig," announced Oliver Durmont, the president of Hasbro Entertainment.
"As a loving parent and fan of Peppa herself, Katy Perry is a perfect fit to voice the character of Ms. Leopard."
This is not the first time Perry has lent her voice as a character from an animated show-or movie.
The "Teenage Dream" singer starred as Smurfette in "The Smurfs" movie, as well as its sequel, "The Smurfs 2"-so the singer definitely knows a thing or two about being a voice actor by now.
Katy Perry Joins 'Peppa Pig'
Durmont went on praising Perry as a singer and entertainer, noting that her impact will help "Peppa Pig" gain more audiences and her collaboration will also be a milestone for the brand.
"Reaching this brand milestone of two decades and being able to work with outstanding talent like Katy is a testament to the worldwide success of Peppa Pig and her ability to deliver entertainment no fans will want to miss," Durmont continued.
"This is just one of the many exciting projects we have in the pipeline for fans and families to commemorate Peppa Pig's 20th anniversary in 2024, such as live events and attractions, products and partnerships, Peppa parties all over the world and much more. Everyone's invited to our year-long celebration."
Sure enough, some fans have expressed their interest in watching "Peppa Pig" despite it being a show for kids.
"Never watched this, but will definitely be watching the episode she voices," a fan wrote.
"I hope they give her character a clever name that's a Wink at her work," another added.
Katy Perry, Her Daughter Daisy Dove
Perry is a mother herself, so she probably knew of "Peppa Pig" long before Hasbro Entertainment approached her for the role.
The "Fireworks" singer welcomed her daughter, Daisy Dove, whom she shares with Orlando Bloom on Aug. 26, 2020.
Perry has constantly gushed about her baby and being a mother since then, "As a new mom, those first six weeks are like, 'What?' It's just the biggest life change ever," she said in September 2021.
"You're responsible for someone's well-being that can't even hold their head up. It's a real shift, and you become not No. 1 on the call sheet," she told People Magazine.
