Led Zeppelin Shares 'Black Dog' Alternate Take From 'Led Zeppelin IV' Reissue

Led Zeppelin's reissues of their classic albums Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy won't be released until Oct. 28, but you can check out one of their previously unreleased bonus tracks right now. An alternate version of Led Zeppelin IV's classic opener "Black Dog" can be heard over at Billboard.

Some notable differences between the original "Black Dog" and this alternate version is the mixing of Jimmy Page's guitars and Robert Plant's vocals, particularly during the chorus, in which some of the backing vocals are pushed significantly forward in the mix. Jimmy Page's guitar solo at the end of the song is also absent.

The deluxe editions of Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy are the latest in a recent reissue campaign for the legendary band. Their first three albums, Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, and Led Zeppelin III, were released back on June 3. Reissues for the band's final three studio albums, Physical Graffiti, Presence and In Through The Out Door, have not yet been announced.
