In her first public appearance since the start of her non-jury real estate battle against ailing Army veteran Carl Wescott over a $14.2 million Montecito property, Katy Perry showed up at a recording studio in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The "American Idol" judge, who will turn 39 next month, was taking paperwork, a clipboard, and two water bottles out of her hatchback's trunk. Born Katheryn Hudson, Katy wore a light pink Birkenstock shoe, a matching sweater, a baseball cap, and a white halter tank tucked into beige trousers.
Perry, accompanied by her teacup poodle Nugget, was conspicuously carrying a modest brown Hermès Birkin purse, which was designed in 1984 as a tribute to the late Jane Birkin and can fetch an estimated price tag of $5K to $500K.
In 2020, Orlando Bloom, a former cast member of "The Lord of the Rings," and the 13-time Grammy nominee put their business manager Bernie Gudvi in charge of buying an eight-bedroom, eleven-bathroom Montecito estate for their fiancée.
However, the 84-year-old homeowner-who had only purchased the 9,285 square foot property two months prior-claimed that he signed Gudvi's contract while under the influence of painkillers after a back surgery, which, in the opinion of his attorneys, renders the agreement "voidable." Living there "for the rest of his life," Carl, a victim of Huntington's illness, was "unable to understand the nature and probable consequences of his actions."

Wescott's illness has rendered him psychologically and physically unable of attending this week's trial in California Superior Court; as a result, he is bedridden. Katy, who is suing for $2,669,682 in damages, has been called to testify.
"Well, so we're on day two of the trial," Carl's daughter-in-law Kameron Westcott said on Instagram on Thursday. The other viewpoint essentially asserts that he was competent to sign the document.
Comments on Perry's most recent Instagram image included a request that she "leave the sick veteran and his home alone" as well as a warning that it was disgusting that she enjoyed taking advantage of the elderly in court as a hobby.
Adding to the injury in the eyes of the fans is how big Katy Perry's net worth has gotten this year.
Litmus song has purchased a number of Katy Perry's song licenses; various estimates value the transaction at $225 million (£182 million). The five albums Perry recorded for Capitol Records, ranging from 2008's One of the Boys to 2020's Smile, are included in the deal, which was made public on Monday.
Among these are multi-platinum singles such as I Kissed A Girl, Teenage Dream, Firework, Hot 'n' Cold, and California Gurls. For a single artist, it's the largest catalog deal of the year. The previous champion was Justin Bieber, who sold the rights to his back catalog to Hipgnosis Songs Capital in the UK for $200 million (£162 million) in January.
