In an unexpected development, Las Vegas police arrested a suspect concerning Tupac Shakur's murder months after receiving a "confession" video.
On Friday morning, this arrest sparked optimism that detectives could resolve this unsolved case that dates back 27 years.
Since 2018, much discussion has been surrounding a gangster's account of his involvement in Tupac's death. He has repeatedly mentioned how he was in a car when Orlando Anderson shot at Tupac on September 7, 1996, during an altercation on a Las Vegas strip.
This man has quite brazenly shared this information across books and interviews.
This past May, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were contacted by The Sun and provided with a link to a YouTube interview featuring Keefe D, whose real name is Duane Davis.
According to Keefe, a notorious hip-hop star had paid one million dollars through a gang member named Eric Von Zip as payment for an assassination.
Keefe's Vlad TV interview spurred the media outlet to take action when various sources expressed their frustration that law enforcement seemed to be disregarding his claims - namely, that it was Zap who had pocketed the money supposed for the hitman.
The police said, "The investigation into the murder of Tupac Shakur is still an open homicide investigation."
"Thank you for the information. We have no further comment on the status of this investigation."

Uncover all the details surrounding Keefe D and his potential connection to this fateful event.
One Count of Murder
Sheriff Kevin McMahil warned that the investigation was far from finished during a press conference on September 29, 2023, according to CNN.
On the same day, Keefe D was taken into custody after being indicted by a Clark County grand jury with one count of murder using a deadly weapon, per The New York Times. A mugshot photo was also acquired in connection to his detainment.
South Side Compton Crips
In July 2023, a warrant was issued for an investigation into the home of Keefe D due to his alleged affiliation with the South Side Compton Crips gang.
This was reported by NBC News and had been previously mentioned in The Los Angeles Times' 2002 report, which suggested they were involved in Tupac's murder.
The Car Behind Tupac's Killing
For years, Keefe D had been vocal about his involvement in Tupac's death and his knowledge of who was behind it.
But it wasn't until the release of his memoir "Compton Street Legend" in 2019 that he revealed he was present when the drive-by shooting happened, according to The Associated Press.
2018 Confession
Keefe D finally broke his silence in an interview with the "Unsolved" docuseries about Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.'s deaths.
He shared that he was struggling with cancer and that, as a result, he only cared for the truth now. "I'm coming out now because I have cancer," he expressed. "And I have nothing else to lose. All I care about now is the truth."
The documentary mentioned that Duane Davis had been a passenger inside a car when his nephew Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson is believed to have fired shots at Tupac.
His statements were initially revealed when he talked with Detective Greg Kading and had immunity, as stated by LA Weekly. According to Davis, after they made a U-turn to go towards Tupac's vehicle, he initially mistook Suge Knight for dead from the shooting.
Childhood Friends With Eazy E
In addition to Tupac's untimely demise, Keefe D is linked to the rap world through his friendship with N.W.A. rapper Eazy-E.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, he declared in an interview on VladTV that the late rapper had been presented with the opportunity to join Death Row Records before Dr. Dre.
