Sam Asghari is standing up for Britney Spears in the face of critics, despite the fact that their romance is gone.
Asghari, 29, defended Spears, 41, following a recent Instagram post in which Donald Trump Jr. made fun of the pop singer.
On Sunday, October 1, Trump, 45, posted a meme that said, "America under Trump, American under Biden," and it included two images of Spears: one from the early 2000s and the other from a recent video in which she was seen dancing with knives.
The politician captioned the photo with "Yup." Asghari responded by writing, "It's not okay to be a bully @donaldjtrumpjr," in a since-deleted Instagram Story, according to a screenshot posted on the social media platform by Spears fan account BreatheHeavy.
Days after Spears made news for dancing with prop knives in an Instagram video, which prompted cops to check on her well-being, Asghari comes to Asghari's defense. Captain Dean Worthy of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told Us Weekly on Thursday, September 28,
"Someone close to Britney had seen the video posted on social media, where she's dancing and twirling with knives in her hands and they were really concerned for her mental well-being." After speaking with Spears' attorney, officers concluded that Spears was "no in any harm," despite her security team's refusal to let them meet with her inside her Thousand Oaks, California, home.

The next day, Spears responded to the incident by posting another video of herself dancing with a knife. On Friday, September 29, she clarified on Instagram, saying, ""I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA."
She added, "these are not real knives. No one needs to worry or call the police. I'm trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira ... a performance I was inspired by!!! Cheers to us bad girls who aren't afraid to push boundaries and take risks!"
On August 16, Asghari filed for divorce from the "Circus" singer, stating that they had "irreconcilable differences" between them. After almost six years together, the ex-couples got married in June 2022. They had been married for slightly more than a year when they filed for divorce.
Later that month, Us was informed by a source that Asghari, a suspected member of Spears' close circle, would challenge the terms of their prenuptial agreement. The insider claimed, "Sam doesn't want to play hardball with Britney, but if he has to, he will. In the last two to three years, people around Britney felt that Sam had ulterior motives."
Meanwhile, a second insider exclusively told Us on Tuesday, September 26 that Asghari's family was "so thankful he left the relationship with Britney when he did." "Deep down, they never felt she was the right partner for Sam, even though they will always love and support him."
