Jimmy Butler earned nicknames based on musicians and bands after he debuted his emo look.
The Miami Heat player rocked his new hairstyle for the Media Day ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
"I'm emo," the athlete declared as he fixed his bangs with his hand. "I'm very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me. This is how I've been feeling as of late."
As he became a worldwide meme, music enthusiasts and fans poked fun at his hair and made nicknames for him based on several bands' names.

On X, fans created nicknames for Butler as they commented on his emo look.
One internet user related his "current state" to bands, adding the words Ball Out Boy, Twenty Two Pilots, My Incredible Romance, 24 Seconds To Mars, Simple Man, Death Cab For Coffee and Jimmy Eat World.
"Funniest thing about the Jimmy butler emo s--- is they gonna have to use that picture for all the games n shit with his hair like that lol," another wrote.
"whoever the first person was to see jimmy butler's new look and call him "BALL OUT BOY" should be awarded the macarthur genius grant," one added, referencing the band Fall Out Boy.
Some fans also made fake music videos, including an alleged "Emo Jimmy Butler and Ball Out Boy with Black Parade."
Amid the trend, several famous people also shared their opinions about Butler's emo music era.
Dwyane Wade called him "Himmy 'Hendricks' Butler," making reference to the late guitarist and songwriter Jimi Hendrix.
