It was announced today that MTV will be airing a new reality series (or as everyone else seems to be calling it, a "docuseries") about Queens rapper Ja Rule and his family. Follow The Rules will capture life at Ja Rule's house, where the rapper lives with his wife Aisha, his teenage sons Jeffery Jr. and Jordan, his college-age daughter Brittney, his mother, and his mother-in-law.
"Ja Rule is the modern day reality rap star version of Bill Cosby's role from The Cosby Show," said MTV President of Programming Susanne Daniels. "He embraces a unique parenting style with his teenage kids that feels fresh and funny. We're excited to be in business with him and his delightful family."
Ja Rule also seems to be excited about the show, saying in a press release, "I am truly honored and excited to be partnering with MTV and 51 Minds. Family tradition will never be the same, b***h!" Among the shows executive producers is fellow rapper-turned-actor Queen Latifah.
Some of MTV's other reality series at the moment include Catfish, The Real World, The Challenge, 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom 2, and Snooki & JWoww. You can check out a trailer for Follow The Rules over at MTV.com right now.
Ja Rule's most recent album Pain is Love 2 was released independently back in 2012. His long promised Renaissance Project album has still not yet been given a release date.
This all brings to mind a very funny Dave Chappelle stand-up bit that you can check out right here.
