Before becoming a fixture in the music industry, GloRilla endured her share of hard work and long hours.

One of her less-than-glamorous memories includes a funny story she will share.

At the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards, HipHopDX's Jeremy Hecht spoke with the 24-year-old rapper about her pre-fame occupation history.

"I've had a lot of jobs. I worked at Nike, I worked at Amazon, I worked at Walmart."

Though it wasn't her idea of success, she admitted that what she did once her gigs would end.

"I'd usually get fired - me and my friend, Gloss Up, we were singin' a Beyoncé song, and we got fired from Nike."

Although it started with being released from her job for singing "Dance For You," things have ultimately come full circle for this Memphis artist. GloRilla could attend three of Beyonce's "Renaissance World Tour" shows this year and even sing alongside Queen Bey.

GloRilla Receives Heat

Meanwhile, GloRilla courted a significant amount of criticism on social media after being pictured with Fivio Foreign throwing up gang signs in a snapshot.

In mid-September, the renowned Brooklyn drill rapper and the influencer were spotted together as she raised her hands to make the contentious rakes sign for the photo.

When Fivio Foreign proudly showcased his GDK ties, the CMG rapper admittedly had little knowledge of what it reflected.

But after posting a photo on Facebook, which received an unfavorable response, she revealed that her ignorance was due to unawareness of its true significance.

"I thought he was telling me to throw up his gang. I did not know what it meant until after we took da picture," she said in her Facebook post.

Members of the Black Disciples or Gangster Disciple Killers will frequently express their discontent to those affiliated with the Gangster Disciples, often through violent acts such as throwing up rakes.

In response to Glo's comments, Monica Denise posted on "The Neighborhood Talk": "I don't usually show any aggressive behavior, but there are times when I offer a 'middle finger' gesture - it doesn't take much explanation!

GloRilla's performance was the topic of much conversation, with some fans taken aback that she didn't seem aware of what she was doing.

"How could somebody be so streetwise and not recognize their handiwork?"

Another individual expressed that Sexyy Red would not commit the same mistake: "I assumed Glorilla was bad-ass, which is why sexy red is so hyped up because she truly stands behind it."
