Drake suffered from backlash after he allegedly dissed Rihanna in his newly released song.

On Friday, October 6, Drake released his new album "For All the Dogs" which features several artists like Bad Bunny, Chief Keef, 21 Savage, SZA, Yeat and J. Cole. One of the tracks, "Fear of Heights," recently attracted criticism after listeners got convinced that the rapper dissed his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Drake Criticized for Taking Shots at Rihanna

Drake reportedly raps about Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, in the track.

"Why they make it sound like I'm still hung up on you? / That could never be / Gyal can't ruin me / Better him than me / Better it's not me," he sings.

He seemingly references the buzz suggesting that he has yet to get over their fling.

Fans immediately blasted Drake on X and defended Rihanna, who is now happy with her and A$AP Rocky's two kids.

One said, "Drake is so weirdly obsessed with Rihanna he has their matching shark tattoo that she covered years ago playing at his concerts during their songs together..."

"drake still crying about rihanna 7 years later we tired," another wrote.

"Drake wants us to believe Rihanna was average but he was obsessing over her for years sksksks," another added.

Drake and Rihanna's Relationship Timeline

Drake and Rihanna first met when the former became an extra in her "Pod de Replay" music video. They became friends afterward and developed a romantic relationship in May 2009.

After they sparked dating rumors at that time, the "Umbrella" hitmaker said they were just friends and continued collaborating on more songs, including in her 2010 "What's My Name." The pair's 2011 Grammys appearance intensified the talks, though they were both tightlipped regarding their real score.

In 2016, Drake confessed that Rihanna is someone he has been in love with since he was 22 as he presented her with the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Following rumors that they ended their relationship, Rihanna said in an interview that they did not have a friendship but clarified that they were not enemies. She also reflected on the time Drake's speech at the VMAs left her a bit uncomfortable.

"Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part," she said. "I don't like too many compliments; I don't like to be put on blast."
