After years of just performing in the United States, 21 Savage entered a new chapter of his life and was able to play for his supporters outside the country; watch the heartwarming encounter below.
According to Billboard, the rapper, who was born in the United Kingdom and was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, was welcomed by his longtime collaborator, Drake, during his concert at the Scotaibank Arena in Toronto, Canada.
For his first travel outside the United States, the musician chose Drake's hometown of Toronto.
"Ladies and gentlemen, performing for the first time outside of America in his life. Make some noise for the brother, 21!" Drake said during his introduction.
21 Savage was later met with screams and applauses from attendees as he walked to the stage wearing a Canadian Flag.
He later took to his official Instagram account to share bits and pieces of his experience. In one of his posts, the rapper wrote, "Dreams come true."
21 Savage Now a Permanent US Citizen
Earlier that day, 21 Savage's lawyer, Charles Kuck, confirmed in a statement to the Associated Press that the musician is now a permanent citzen of the United States.
With that being said, the rapper, whose real name is She'yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, is also now allowed to travel outside of his own country.
In 2019, the musician was taken into custody by the ICE in Georgia. At the time, he spent 10 days in a detention center before getting released. The reason why he was arrested was because of his visa which expired in 2006.
His lawyer now says that "his immigration court proceedings have now been terminated and he is a lawful permanent resident of the United States with the freedom to travel internationally."
21 Savage Returning to the United Kingdom
In an emotional video shared on his official Instagram account, the rapper featured several images of his childhood self as well as an audio recording of a person who told him that they missed him.
The post featured Skylar Grey's song "Coming Home."
In other updates, Drake just released his new album "For All the Dogs" but on the same day when the album dropped, the rapper revealed to the world that he would be taking a break from music in order to focus on his health and well-being as he had been suffering from stomach issues for years.
