Joey Belladonna commented on his past potential gig as a Journey singer.

Over the decades, Journey saw its lead singers come and go before tapping Arnel Pineda as the new frontman in 2007. Belladonna almost joined the list, but he ended up creating a tribute band instead.

Joey Belladonna Would Have Loved to Become a Journey Singer

Belladonna shared more about his Journey story in his new interview with Ernest Skinner of Border City Rock Talk. The interviewer asked him if he was serious when he recently revealed that he would love to sing with the rock band, to which he responded how much he would have loved it.

Per the musician, he has been close with the Journey members, especially Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo.

"I mean, I'm so far into knowing the whole band and crew that I always would have loved to have done that," he said. "'Cause I just like the music. The music is really appealing to me. I love all the melodic [aspects of it]. I love the musicianship. There's so much there."

Belladonna explained that, while he would do it in an instant, he clarified that Journey's music was also the reason they made Beyond Frontiers perform the legendary act's songs even without being part of the official group.

He also hyped everyone when he hinted at the tribute band's upcoming studio versions of their "whole set."

What Joey Belladonna Said About Joining a Journey Gig

Belladonna's statement mirrored what he told 100 FM The Pike radio station's Mike Hsu regarding the potential gig. He said that no one came to him to ask him to do a gig, but he is reportedly interested in doing so.

"So, and I know 'em and I've been in touch with Deen [Castronovo) a lot," he said. "But no, no one's ever really asked me about joining or anything like that, which would've been interesting."

Although he and Anthrax already have a successful career, he told Hsu that he made the tribute band with Justin Ward, Doug Carter, Paul Arntz and Matt Basford to complete his dream of singing Journey songs on stage.

The band started in March 2020.

According to Belladona, people also asked him why he did it, to which he said that he has liked Journey even before Steve Perry joined.
