If the three-hour long "The Eras" Tour wasn't enough, Taylor Swift decided to capture it into a three-hour long "The Eras" Tour Film that got her fans lining up the same way that they did at her concerts.
The film wasn't supposed to be released until today, but Swift was adamant that many should see the film, the day earlier because of the demand - and as expected, the film garnered rave reviews from critics who also got to see her perform her career-spanning setlist inside a theatre.
The film even debuted at Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% fresh rating!
Taylor Swift 'The Eras' Tour Film: Critics Review
2023 is carried essentially by three women - Beyonce, Greta Gerwig, and Taylor Swift, CNN reported. The impact of the "Renaissance" Tour, the "Barbie" film release, and Taylor Swift's "The Eras" Tour all lifted the American economy to greater heights.
Taylor Swift promised to bring the show to as many people as humanly possible, and she was not just referring to having an international tour - the idea of showing "The Eras" Tour film in more theatres as possible was the final cherry on top.
As expected, critics all but praised Swift for the complete experience she took them.
According to Variety, Taylor Swift's "The Eras" Tour was as exhilarating to witness in theatres as it was on film. As to offering more than what the tour provides when watched live, the publication had this to say: "[Director]Wrench and cinematographer Brett Turnbull don't avoid the obvious shots, but they also have some wrinkles up their sleeves that startle you out of any sense you're just watching those concert screens redux."
The Hollywood Reporter talked about the movie experience and etiquette that most snob moviegoers wouldn't actually experience but is very unique to watching "The Eras" tour film.
"Audience members sang along and danced in the aisle and cheered so loudly I often couldn't tell where the roar of the crowd onscreen ended and the roar of the crowd in the theater began," the review read.
As much as people wanted more songs to be featured or packed on the 3-hour film, some songs had to be cut, and it's especially difficult for the team to choose which songs to bench and not to. Some songs made the cut, but some were still show-stoppers.
"It's sure to come as a disappointment to many, as it did for me, that about one or two songs from each era were sacrificed, likely for the sake of time... The decision is understandable, given the constraints of theatrical releases, but some of the choices felt a bit odd," Deadline pointed out in their rave review.
