Fashion mavens have declared that Madonna's look for her "Celebration" world tour would be more fitting somewhere else – like a Las Vegas showgirl.
A fashion expert recommended that the iconic singer take fashion advice before relinquishing her spot as a superstar performer.
Madonna's long-awaited extravaganza started in London on Saturday where she took the stage to perform inspiring musical performances and an extensive repertoire of hit songs.
With many costume changes along the way, fans were truly enthralled by this momentous occasion.
At 65, the "Material Girl" hitmaker danced and sang while wearing her well-known styles.
Her unique attire included conical bras, lace gloves, fishnets, and tight corsets.
But Tavia Sharpe, a fashion expert, believes the recent looks of the pop star lacked creativity.
Despite iconic elements in her wardrobe choices, they appeared "dated" to the stylist.
She explained that throughout her career as a music superstar, Madonna has been known for pushing fashion boundaries with her stylish looks. In particular, her iconic crucifixes during her 80s era stand out in memory.
However, it wasn't until her 90s persona that she hit her stride with a modern dominatrix look.
Tavia spoke with The Sun and explained, "I just feel like these looks are a bit outdated. It all seemed forced and uninspired to me artistically."
She further said Madonna switch things up as the curation of her tour looks seems so "lazy."
"For Madonna, the styles weren't modern enough for her brand. She needs something that will make her stand out before people start thinking she should give it up."
No Better Than Beyonce and Taylor Swift?
Rather than drawing inspiration from within, Tavia suggested that Madonna consider mimicking the styles of younger stars like Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
"These two certainly don't have the same experience or body of work as Madonna, whose tour is intended to commemorate her career and music."
Nevertheless, Tavia said it wouldn't hurt to modernize the blonde beauty's look more to compare favorably with other performers currently working in the industry.
When Beyonce toured, her fashion was remarkable. Every outfit that graced the stage was absolutely one of a kind.
Various designers and stylists were consulted to create these looks, giving them distinct flair and character.
To honor the legacy of her past performances, it's said that the styling team for Beyonce recreated 17 costumes.
She contracted Eyob Yohannes and Rita Melssen for costume and creative design. Consequently, Donatella Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Dilara Findikoglu were entrusted with the task.
In her discussion, Tavia clarified that Madonna is known for pushing the boundaries of fashion and style.
"The costumes she wore lacked the creativity we all associate with her," she explained. "We have seen Madonna reinvent herself time and again over the years."
Since it is Madonna, one would expect her to be bold and innovative, the expert said. Yet this was far from the mark.
"Tribute must be paid to her career and era; however, with that being said, it appears that Madonna is simply sticking with what has worked before."
