Shania Twain has been taking over not just the country music scene but the entire industry itself for decades now, but that doesn't mean there were no hurdles along the way as she recently mentioned in an interview that she was convinced her career was over at one point after finding out about something regarding her health; what happened?
The country legend recently appeared in an interview on the "Drew Barrymore Show" where she recalled being diagnosed with Lyme disease.
According to B105 Country, the singer got the disease when she got bit by a tick in 2004. Unfortunately, it deeply affected his vocals which forced her to take a break from music for more than a decade.
At the time, Shania Twain thought her career was over and she would never have the opportunity to serenade her loyal fans again.

Speaking with host Drew Barrymore on the program, Twain said she was convinced her career was ending after consulting with a lot of doctors to treat her medical problem.
"When I really was convinced by every medical professional, saying, 'We don't know what's wrong with you, so we can't fix it. We can't determine what's wrong with you. Why you can't scream and yell and control your voice, we don't know,'" she said.
She further explained that her next step was to "relax into it" and fortunately, she never gave up.

However, there was also a time when she thought of looking for other jobs that are related to music like songwriting, which made her appreciate the process even more.
"I didn't have to be the singer anymore. I didn't have to be in the spotlight anymore. I can write for other people to be in the spotlight," she explained.
How Shania Twain Cope With Her Health Problems
The musician then gave a piece of advice, saying she allowed herself to think of the worst thing possible, saying it was important for her to "live in that reality" wherein the future is uncertain.
Since she had no idea if her voice was ever to come back again, she continued grieving, until doctors found a way to finally treat her condition and were able to fix it.
In 2018, Twain was able to undergo open-throat surgery and was able to get her voice back. She continued having a successful career in the 2020s as she released her new album "Queen of Me" this year and is currently touring to perform for her thousands of fans.
