Jake Owen just made more work for himself during the ACM Honors ceremony on Sept. 9.
The "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" singer was already tabbed to host the event, but now he'll be performing as well, according to The Boot.
Owen was the key figure in a recent announcement that also listed Billy Burnette, Tony Joe White and the Swon Brothers as additional performers.
The lineup already featured Dierks Bentley, Kelly Clarkson, Hunter Hayes, Kacey Musgraves, Lee Ann Womack, Dwight Yoakam, the Oak Ridge Boys and others.
The event honors the ACM Award winners who do not get to receive their trophies on camera.
"I couldn't be more proud to host the ACM Honors," Owens told The Boot. "I'm blessed to be a part of country music, and to join in recognizing these incredible artists, musicians and industry executives is a true honor."
CEO of the Academy of Country Music Bob Romeo was pretty pumped about the choice, too.
"We think Jake's talent as a songwriter and performer - alongside his respect for country music - makes him the perfect choice to host ACM Honors for the first time this year," Romeo said. "His energy and inventive spirit will be fun to watch attending fans respond to, and we're honored to have him take this key role in the most important event the Academy hosts in Nashville, annually."
In random related news, Owen came under fire Thursday for posting an Instagram video of him driving with his daughter in the front seat.
Little Pearl is only two years old, and she was not in a toddler car seat.
Our own Kim Jones laid down the final word:
While I don't think for one second that Jake would knowingly do anything to put Pearl in danger, the sad fact is that no one ever plans for a car wreck. Unless they were sitting in the driveway, waiting to put the car seat in (which is entirely possible), it was risky since you just never know what the next moment will bring. While they say that some of the best music comes from heartbreak, a song about the loss of a child is something I never want to hear coming from Jake (or any other artist for that matter).
