On Sunday, Christina Aguilera shared a slew of seductive photos on her Instagram account to mark the 21st anniversary of the release of her fourth album, "Stripped."
"Dirrty," the lead song from "Stripped," which debuted in September 2002, rapidly sparked debate due to its sexually graphic lyrics. A comparable amount of controversy surrounded the release of the song's music video in the same month due to its depiction of various fetishes.
Aguilera's fourth album received significant acclaim upon release and peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 list, despite the unfavorable response to her first single and accompanying promotional video.
After the debut of Stripped, four other singles were issued, including Beautiful, Fighter, and Can't Hold Us Down.
Although Santana and Michelle Branch finally won the Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, the vocalist was nominated for it for her participation on the song Dirrty.

In order to promote her album, the hitmaker went on two concert tours, both of which happened in 2003. Since then, the United States has awarded 5X platinum certification to Aguilera's fourth studio album.
Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, among other well-known performers, have later credited the album as having a significant effect on their own work.
The singer discussed the making of Stripped in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying that she intended for the album's subject matter to stand in stark contrast to her past output.
She recalled, "I was still very much under the thumb of a lot of older men and women when I was composing the songs on my first album.
Aguilera continued by discussing the commotion surrounding the album's lead hit.
She remarked, "I was never coming on the scene to impose anything upon anyone, and it made me sad how rigid and judgmental a lot of people were."
The singer then said that she intended to use Dirrty to display a different aspect of her artistic abilities. The essence of roughing things up was this. I wanted to re-enter the scene and make a big splash for myself by doing something unique and perhaps rebellious,' she said.
