For more than 10 years, Britney Spears had no financial and self-freedom as she was placed under a conservatorship by her family. More recently, after her book "The Woman in Me" came out, there have been a lot of personal information about herself that the public didn't know about until now.

In the new memoir, the musician revealed that she agreed to be placed under a conservatorship and it was all because of an emotional reason.

"I did it for my kids," she confessed in the book.

According to Page Six, before the singer was placed under the legal protection, she lost custody of her two children named Sean Preston and Jayden whom she shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

"Because I played by the rules, I was reunited with my boys," the pop singer added.

Following this, Spears was placed under the consevatorship which lasted over 13 years. The primary conservator, her father Jamie Spears, controlled all of her assests, financial needs, medical needs, and even her physical appearance.

Fortunately, the singer was freed in November 2021 after the #FreeBritneyMovement.

Britney Spears Explains What Freedom Feels Like

Elsewhere in the new book, which came out last week and exposed some of the most vulnerable moments of her life, Britney Spears described what it felt like to be free again after more than a decade.

"Freedom means I don't have to perform for anyone - onstage or offstage. Freedom means that I get to be as beautifully imperfect as everyone else," she wrote.

She added that freedom for her is the ability to look for joy on her own way and her own terms.

Britney Spears Exposes Justin Timberlake

Aside from stories surrounding her conservatorship, Britney Spears also gave a glimpse of what her relationship with Justin Timberlake felt like back in the day.

According to Yahoo! The musician revealed in the book the she had an abortion while they were dating in the early 2000s.

She wrote that the experience was one of the most "agonizing" things that she ever experienced in her life and the reason why she went on to have an abortion was because Timberlake didn't want to be a father.

Regarding his reaction, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Timberlake might not address the issue anytime soon as he wanted to focus on his own family.
