Britney Spears opened up about the public and the media's hyper-fixation about her virginity in her memoir "The Woman in Me," and she finally set the record straight.
"Given that I had so many teenage fans, my managers and press people had long tried to portray me as an eternal virgin," the "Oops I Did It Again" singer wrote in the memoir.
"Never mind that Justin [Timberlake] and I had been living together, and I'd been having sex since I was fourteen.
"Why did my managers work so hard to claim I was some kind of young-girl virgin even into my twenties? Whose business was it if I'd had sex or not?"
According to reports, the media and public openly speculated about Spears, as well as other young celebrities' sex lives.
Britney Spears Fights Back on Sexist, Misogynistic Remarks
This is not the first time the "Gimme More" singer has slammed the media and public for speculating about her virginity.
"I've only slept with one person my whole life," Spears told W Magazine in 2002. "It was two years into my relationship with Justin, and I thought he was the one. ... But I was wrong! I didn't think he was gonna go on Barbara Walters and sell me out."
This was in response to her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake confessing about their sex life in an interview.
Some reports allude that the public and media's weird fixation on Spears' virginity might be rooted in her child-star days, when she appeared on the Disney Channel and blossoming into a young woman before everyone's very eyes on television.
Britney Spears Reveals Controversy After Controversy in Memoir
Spear also addressed several things about her tumultuous relationship with the *NSYC singer elsewhere in "The Woman in Me."
She revealed that she and Timberlake had a baby, but decided to terminate the pregnancy.
"It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn't a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I'd anticipated," Spears wrote.
"But Justin definitely wasn't happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."
