Very recently, she has finally spoken up about the issue.
"I've been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that's going on the world,' she shared on Instagram. "People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific."
Gomez furthered her call for protection to "ALL people, especially children," and "stop the violence for good."
While her post was meant to do good, some people online noticed that Gomez seemed to shift the attention to herself instead.
"I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't," she wrapped up saying.
People Are Annoyed by Selena Gomez Statement on Israel-Palestine War?
On Twitter/X where the statement was posted by Pop Crave, some people discussed at length Selena Gomez's statement.
"The "issue" came in when she attempted to victimize herself and her sister in a situation that people are actually suffering from and they're not one of them," a user pointed out.
"selena gomez is being so stupid right now. she is downplaying her massive following and being hypocritical. if a post can't help change the world why call yourself a philanthropist?? why post about mental health, blm, womens rights, american elections etc etc," another commented.
Some fans are egging Gomez for not choosing a side between Israel and Palestine, with others even comparing her call for support to Ukraine last year, where she was more vocal about supporting the oppressed state.
Some users took a jab at Gomez for playing it safe.
"I know your intentions are well Selena, but choosing no side is siding with the oppressor. You can still feel bad for the innocent people getting hurt but that doesn't make anything Israel is doing justifiable," a user said.
