Former One Direction member Zayn Malik partnered with Mixoloshe to end the stigma surrounding non-alcoholic beverages.
Malik officially collaborated with Kristina Roth, the founder of Mixoloshe, a year after the brand was launched. The beverages of the company are all non-alcoholic but offer the same taste as adult drinks. After establishing the partnership, the "Pillowtalk" singer officially became the company's co-owner and chief creative officer.
Why Zayn Malik Promotes the New Company
In his exclusive interview with Billboard to talk about the brand, Malik revealed that Mixoloshe's drinks offer benefits while helping people to have healthier lifestyles.
As to why she promotes them, he explained that he wants people to choose the products while feeling "comfortable and empowered" without judgment.
"My commitment to eliminating the stigma around non-alcoholic beverages," he said. "Non-alcoholic options should not be reserved solely for those who don't drink, and the idea that non-alcoholic beverages are exclusively for "sober" individuals is a stereotype that I'm determined to challenge."
The ex-boyband member also expressed his desire to create an environment where non-alcoholic beverages are " enjoyable."
Malik also answered the question about whether he would follow in the footsteps of other musicians-turned-business people like Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Rihanna.
Although the singer sees himself like them in the future, he clarified that he has his own journey until he reaches the peak of his business ideas.
Zayn Malik Gives an Update About New Music
Elsewhere in the interview, Malik offered an update to fans regarding his new music.
"I'm putting the finishing touches on it right now, I'm ready for this to be shared with the world," he said. "Excited and ready."
Malik has not dropped a new song since releasing "Love Like This" in July. It served as his first solo single in two years after launching his solo career.
He has been open about his time in One Direction and the reasons why he left the boy band in 2015. He told the "Call Her Daddy" podcast in July that he felt like they were overexposed in the band.
"Certain people were doing certain things, certain people didn't want to sign contracts, so I knew something was happening, so I just got ahead of the curve. I was like, 'I'm just going to get out of here. I think this is done,'" he went on.
