The Grammy Awards nomination announcement is due on Nov. 10, 2023, and fans online are debating on who among the possible contenders will go head to head on the popular category of the Grammy Award for Pop Vocal Album.

Last year, it was Harry Styles who won in the category. He also took home the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Grammys Best Pop Vocal Album 2024 Predictions

According to Rolling Stone, five major albums will go head to head on the said category are the following - "Subtract" by Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey's "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd," Sam Smith's "Gloria," Taylor Swift's "Midnights," and Miley Cyrus "Endless Summer Vacation."

However, the publication noted that SZA's "SOS" might also be a huge contender if Grammy voters believe it's pop enough to be eligible.

"It's super diverse and well-rounded. I think she's due," SiriusXM Vice President of Music Programming told the publication.

Per the publication, Taylor Swift's "Midnights" "should win" the Pop Vocal Album. Contrary to popular belief, Swift is quite elusive in the category as she has only won the award once in 2016 for "1989." She has been nominated for three consecutive years from 2019 to 2021 with "Lover," "Folklore" and "Evermore," but she lost all three.

"When you look at Taylor and her ability to affect pop culture, it would be a shock to not see her nominated here," Hot 99 Program Director Rob Kruz said in a statement. "You couldn't turn around without hearing about Taylor Swift this year. She owned 2023."

However, Sam Smith has been a favorite of Grammy votes and Rolling Stone believes that "Gloria" "will win" instead.

"It feels like emotional, sexual, and spiritual liberation," Smith said about their lead single, "Unholy." "Oddly, it feels like my first-ever record. And it feels like a coming of age." The track has since won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance last year, making it a history setting feat for both Sam Smith and Kim Petras as the first non-binary and transgender to win the award.

Lana Del Rey's "Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd" has been highly predicted by many publications to be nominated in the general fields. Will it finally give Lana Del Rey her long-awaited, that we have to wait.

Miley Cyrus has also yet to win a Grammy, her "Endless Summer Vacation" album has only become popular because of its smash single, "Flowers" - will she finally earn her well-deserved Grammy with it?
