Selena Gomez announced that she will be taking a break and deleting her Instagram account just days after receiving flak for her recent post on her stance in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
"I'm taking a break and deleting my Instagram," the "Lose You to Love Me" singer wrote. "I'm done. I do not support any of what's going on."
Netizens did not take well to Gomez's Instagram Story and continued berating her and her post.
"This is hilarious actually," one wrote.
"She'll be back to victimizing herself in no time," another added.
"Drama queen."
Others even called out the singer once again saying that she would be "taking a break" from social media or deleting her account.
"Me counting all the times Selena threatened to delete social media but never actually did."
"She said 2 days ago she was taking a 'break' and she's saying it again like clearly nobody cares."
Selena Gomez's Israel-Gaza Post
According to reports, the situation began earlier this week when Gomez took to Instagram to voice her stance on the violence going on between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
"I've been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that's going on in the world.
"People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific. We need to protect ALL people, especially children, and stop the violence for good," the "Rare" singer wrote.
"I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt," she continued. "That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't. Love, Selena."
Netizens Cancel Selena Gomez
However, instead of drawing in support from netizens, Gomez's post only infuriated them.
"L take. Common you literally have the biggest following on that platform and this is all you do?"
"430 M followers on Instagram and 'I wish I could change the world. But a post won't' ?????"
Netizens could not help but bring up Gomez's previous post about the conflict in Ukraine, in which she announced that she donated to Unicef and is encouraging others to do so as well.
In fact, others have brought up how she relived the feud between herself and Hailey Bieber earlier this year.
"She started a hate train against Hailey Bieber because of some comments she made on TikTok. People were hating on Bella Hadid because of a post she made.
She KNOWS exactly the power and influence she holds, she just doesn't want to use it," a netizen wrote.
