Apparently, these fans are on a rotating schedule to reserve their spots on the line, hoping to get as close to Taylor Swift as possible.
Taylor Swift Fans Camping Out In Argentina
In a new Pitchfork report, it was revealed that a number of Taylor Swift fans have been camping out outside the Estadio River Plate in Argentina since June 2023 to reserve their spots at the floor-standing section of Swift's Argentina spot.
Taylor Swift is playing for three nights at the Estadio River Plate in Argentina starting November 9 to 11, next week.
An anonymous fan said that she tells her parents that she's just meeting someone at the park, but turns out, she has been camping there for five months. Hundreds of fans have been on an organized and meticulous rotating schedule to camp out of the venue.
60 people per tent are rotating every day, with no person under 18 allowed. A fan who goes by the name of Carmen confessed that she has spent more than 300 hours camping out already. Fans who camp out aren't forced to stay for 24 hours, but sleepovers are mandatory for them at least once a month, along with a minimum of 60 monthly hours to maintain one's spot.
Argentina Taylor Swift Fans Faces Criticism
But their stay outside the venue has met criticism from soccer fans and public outrage. (via Pitchfork)
These devoted fans have been interviewed by the local media but they have developed a strict no-recording policy to also hide their identities.
"People are very upset with us camping for some reason," Carmen admitted. "Sometimes you're lying down, and you hear someone scream 'Go to work!' at 2 a.m. It's like, 'You're the one who's outside of a tent shouting at 2 in the morning-aren't you supposed to work tomorrow? Does it really affect you that much? I'm the one who's sleeping on the street, not you."
Despite the weather conditions, rowdy fans, and public criticism, there had been no recorded major disturbance. In fact, during games and events, police guard the tents offering protection for the camping Swifties, as well as metal fences, were erected in place.
