Prior to Lisa Marie Presley's death on January 12, it seems the late daughter of Elvis Presley had some issues with Sofia Coppola's "Priscilla" movie script.
As reported by Variety, emails obtained revealed that she was not content with how her father was depicted in the production. "My father only comes across as a predator and manipulative," she wrote in one email.
In response to Priscilla Presley's book "Elvis and Me," which serves as the basis for the film's screenplay, Lisa Marie Presley voiced her opinion four months before her untimely demise.
She expressed that she did not identify her father's traits in the character being portrayed on screen.
"As his daughter, I don't read this and see any of my father in this character."
Priscilla Presley, 78, and her late husband, Elvis, were married from 1967 to 1973.
However, Lisa Marie was perplexed when reading her mother's perspective on her father. "I don't read this and see my mother's perspective of my father."
She also asked, "I read this and see your shockingly vengeful and contemptuous perspective, and I don't understand why?"
Sofia had attempted to put Lisa Marie's mind at ease through her representative, emailing a message: "I am taking utmost care to ensure your mother is remembered with respect and that the portrayal of your father is both sensitive and multifaceted. I hope when you see the finished product, it will change your outlook."
Nevertheless, Lisa Marie seemed far from comforted and continued to let out her worries in front of Sofia. As a way to make her point clearer, the late four-time mother drew a comparison with Sofia's famed dad, Francis Ford Coppola.

"I am worried that my mother isn't seeing the nuance here or realizing how Elvis will be perceived when this movie comes out."
"I feel protective over my mother, who has spent her whole life elevating my father's legacy. I am worried she doesn't understand the intentions behind this film or the outcome it will have."
"My Dad and my family don't deserve this," Lisa said pleadingly.
"Of all people, you should understand how painful this is."
Drawing attention to Baz Luhrmann's 2022 film "Elvis," she praised it for accurately representing her father's story.
She reportedly wrote, "a break from suffering and a ray of light that hit us last year ... it made them [her kids] so proud and honored to be his granddaughters. It made them feel blessed for a moment and less cursed in life. It made us all so proud because it was a true depiction of who he really was."
