Britney Spears' ex has denied the pop star's assertions that their relationship extended beyond that of a casual boyfriend-girlfriend.

"The Woman in Me," Britney's autobiography, describes her time with Adnan Ghalib in greater detail than ever.

The British security consultant had a relationship with the "Toxic" singer before her being placed in 2008 under a mental health conservatorship headed by her father, Jamie.

Exploring her past relationships, Britney mentions a photographer who was incredibly kind to her.

Referencing him as "the photographer," she recounts how he was courteous and always willing to intercede when things got heated with the other paparazzi.

Despite developing romantic feelings for him, Britney regrettably admits that she had no clue about his relationship status before their fling.

In the book, Britney said, "I didn't know then that the photographer was married; I had no clue that I was essentially his mistress. I only found that out after we'd broken up."

Attempting to make her voice heard, Britney claims that she thoroughly enjoyed her time with Adnan and found it "a lot of fun" and "incredibly hot."

Adnan, hailing from Birmingham, England, but based in California, sought clarification by telling The Sun, "My wife and I had been separated for three years - we weren't divorced."

During the period in question, he also revealed he lived separately, and that his civil status was single.

Nevertheless, despite their separation, those within Britney's circle sought to cast Adnan as deceitful and unfaithful - though nothing could be further from the truth, he said.

How Did Britney Spears Meet This Ex?

It all began with a chance encounter between Adnan Ghalib and Britney Spears; it was as he worked as a pap when he gallantly helped her cross the bustling street.

He recalls that one evening, she was dropped off on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway close to her residence in Malibu.

Adnan explained to the outlet, "I could see she was not going to cross the road. I was a photographer at the time, but that was not important."

He further explained, "I helped her across the street, but two photographers ran back over, and they wanted to fight me because they thought I'd ruined their shots."

"She overheard the conversation and me shouting at them, 'You protect humans from doing things that are not good.'"

"Later, she asked, 'Why did you do that? Those guys were going to beat you up.'"

"I replied, 'There's certain things that make us who we are, and I'm not going to allow anything to happen to you for the sake of me getting a picture. It's not that important.'"

Adnan recounted the experience of escorting Britney from her Malibu home to the Loews Hotel in Santa Monica.

He had urged photographers to respect her privacy and only take pictures once they had arrived at their destination. Recalling this moment, he said: "I walked her inside, and she kissed me on the cheek. It was a magic moment."
