Travis Kelce believes that his recent record-breaking performances on the field and Taylor Swift's attendance at some of the games are just coincidental.
Over the past few months, Kelce and Swift have been sharing sweet interactions since sparking dating rumors. Some fans - even the athlete's teammates - believed that the "Anti-Hero" singer affected his performance positively.
Does Taylor Swift Play a Huge Role in Travis Kelce's Performance?
Kelce made an impressive score when the Kansas City Chiefs won the game against the Miami Dolphins, even when Swift did not attend it, becoming the all-time franchise leader in receiving yards for the team.
Per Mirror, he set 10,941 receiving yards - but failed to break the record the way he wanted to as he put in his worst individual performance of the season.
With that, the theory that the "champagne problems" singer pushes him to his limits as he reportedly performs better when she is watching him.
However, Kelce does not believe so.
"I think it's pretty much a coincidence," Kelce said of his latest poor performance. "I've had some pretty big games in my career, so yeah, I think it is a bit of a coincidence, for sure."
Travis Kelce Improved After He Was Linked to Taylor Swift?
In an episode of Kelce's "New Heights" podcast with his brother Jason, the brothers spoke about his improved performance because of the "Lover" singer.
"When T Swift is at the game, you are averaging 99 yards and when you are left with only your friends and remaining family there, you are at 46.5 yards a game," the Philadelphia Eagles center said.
Meanwhile, even the Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid approved of their relationship saying that Swift has been a positive influence to the tight end.
Body language expert Judi James also told The Mirror that Kelce looked "smug and fully pumped" whenever Swift was in attendance in his past games.
"His sport might be all about peacocking and alpha displays, but his displays here involve arms raised high with pointing fingers, which are attention-seeking whether you're celebrating a win or dancing at a nightclub," she added. "Travis will know all eyes are on him right now, especially Taylor's eyes, and having seen how she performed last time he played, he'll be aware of her dedicated fan rituals in the stands."
