Shooting music videos in specific locations requires specific permits and permissions from property owners. This has been the practice since then.
Very recently, Sabrina Carpenter angered Catholics and a Brooklyn bishop when she released the "Feather" music video because of the lewd and racy imagery she displayed while inside the church.
Now, the priest who allowed Carpenter's team has since been fired from administrative duties as the church was also re-blessed.
Priest Who Allowed Sabrina Carpenter To Shoot 'Feather' Music Video Fired
According to Catholic News Agency, the Diocese of Brooklyn announced that the vicar of the parish, Monsignor Jamie Giantiello, the local pastor who allowed Sabrina Carpenter and her team to shoot the music video in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn, New York, was already fired.
He no longer has administrative oversight over the parish but shall remain as the priest of the said church.
Brooklyn Bishop Father Robert Brennan slammed Carpenter's video because of her racy and lewd behavior in the said music video.
"The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on Church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script," he argued, saying that the team "failed to accurately represent the video content." (via The Daily Mail)
However, an investigation stated that the production team has secured all necessary permissions, and they have provided a sufficient description of "inappropriate behavior unsuitable for a church sanctuary."
Sabrina Carpenter 'Feather' Music Video Church Re-Blessed
Catholic News Agency reports that the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn, New York, has been re-blessed by Brooklyn Bishop Father Robert Brennan.
"Through the offering of this Mass, Bishop Brennan has restored the sanctity of this church and repaired the harm," Brennan said during the blessing.
With Giantello fired from his post, he was replaced by Auxiliary Bishop Witold Mroziewski, assuming all administrative oversight of the parish pending another investigation into Giantello's oversight.
As of this writing, Carpenter has not yet commented on nor addressed the issue at hand.
However, people online were actually laughing at the situation, noting that the era of pop stars triggering the Catholic church has returned.
"you're a real star when you do blasphemy SHE DID IT BRIGHTLY," someone joked.
"this is so insane imaging serving so much cunt the Catholic Church gets mad about it," another quipped.
