Tragedy struck Shania Twain's tour when two of their vehicles, the crew bus and truck, were involved in an unfortunate rollover crash in Canada.
The unfortunate outcome led to several members of the crew being hospitalized as a consequence.
A statement released by Maverick Management, the management company of Shania Twain, revealed that the unfortunate incident occurred during her "Queen Of Me" tour when two vehicles from the tour were in an accident as they traveled between Winnipeg and Saskatoon. The vehicles involved included a crew bus and a truck.
The foul weather caused hazardous driving conditions, and several cars had to navigate the roads cautiously.
Unfortunately, some production crew members were injured and needed medical attention; as a result, they have now been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Upon arriving at the scene at 7 AM Wednesday, Dwayne Stone - fire chief of Grenfell - said firefighters were forced to break out windows and access the bus's emergency hatch for them to free the 13 people who had been trapped inside. Thankfully, Shania Twain was not on board at the time of the accident.
According to Stone, the only way out of the house was by using the windows on both sides. He informed Global News that they had people stationed at various spots inside and outside to ensure everyone got out safely.
"We had people up on the roof, inside, people in the back, people in the front working diligently," he added.
The aftermath of the crash was made painfully clear in the pictures depicting the bus on its side and debris scattered across the ground.
But according to one witness, most of those on board suffered relatively minor injuries such as broken bones, abrasions, and bruises. Miraculously, there were no reports of life-threatening harm sustained by any passengers.
On their way to Saskatoon for Twain's gig at SaskTel Centre on Thursday night, a tour bus full of Twain's production crew encountered black ice and was involved in an accident. Joerg Philipp, owner of Beat Street USA, relayed this news via a Facebook post.
The Twain team was grateful for the help they received after the incident.
"Our hearts are overflowing with thanks to all of the emergency personnel that arrived so quickly," they said. "We appreciate everyone's understanding and support as we attend to our touring family."
At this time, there has been no word from the singer-songwriter regarding the accident. Going forward, her final stop on the Canadian leg of her tour is slated for November 14th in Vancouver.
In four years, Shania Twain is slated to begin her Las Vegas residency at Bakkt Theater in the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The residency will surely be an exciting moment for both her and fans.
