It seems obvious that a festival such as Tomorrowland will thrive in nearly any environment yet many had their doubts when promoter ID&T announced that the event would be moving to Brazil during 2015. However—just like the twin weekends held at its original location in Boom, Belgium—the festival sold out no problem. Even more impressive considering that no acts have been announced for the event that will happen next year.
All tickets were reportedly gone within three hours according to Dancing Astronaut. That sort of interest will certainly keep ID&T interested in following its goal to launch a Tomorrowland on every continent (except Antarctica. Sorry penguins). Rumors are already circulating regarding a potential festival date in India, which is admittedly a prime locale for a huge EDM fest. Both Brazil and India are BRIC nations, or four of the most populous nations on Earth with rapidly growing economies. China could is more likely to host a festival for largely instrumental music but an event in Russia seems unlikely considering the general political situation at the moment.
The festival will go down on the first three days of May next year, apparently in the Itu district of São Paulo. It's an appropriate location to host, as the neighborhood has dubbed itself "the capital of large things," and Tomorrowland is certainly not about being subdued.
Congrats to all those who scored passes. Hope you can handle the long wait for the announcement of acts!
