Rage Against The Machine Guitarist Tom Morello Unveils 'Marching On Ferguson' [WATCH]

Tom Morello used the stage at Jail Guitar Doors’ Rock Out! benefit concert on Friday night to make a public statement on Ferguson, Mo.

“Marching on Ferguson” came almost a month after St. Louis-area teen Michael Brown was shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer. The ensuing investigation (or lack thereof) and police response created a national uproar that took weeks to die down.

Morello, the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, has never been known to separate politics and music, and one could see his protest offering coming from a mile away (especially if you follow him on Twitter).

A stomper fueled by a simple riff and some “whoa”s from Morello’s backing guitar duo, “Marching on Ferguson” is on par with most of his solo stuff, which tends not to get overly complicated.

That doesn’t mean the guitar legend doesn’t flash some mighty skill, though. He follows the first verse with a mouth-picked solo and then some quick fretwork.

Rolling Stone reports that Jackson Browne, Ben Harper, Tim Robbins and MC5's Wayne Kramer were among the other performers at Rock Out!, which raised money to bring instruments to inmates.

With two solo albums under his belt, the 50-year-old has made a name for himself as The Nightwatchman, but his best-known work came with Rage in the ‘90s and Audioslave in the ‘00s. RATM is still technically active, but they haven’t played any shows since 2011. Singer/rapper Zack de la Rocha, bassist Tim Commerford, drummer Brad Wilk and Morello are not known as a particularly harmonious group, and the latest evidence was this Morello tweet on Aug. 26:
