Keke Palmer Hosting 2023 BET Soul Train Awards Amid Domestic Abuse Issue With Darius Jackson

Keke Palmer is one strong and independent woman. Very recently, she surprised everyone online by filing a temporary restraining order against her physically and emotionally abusive boyfriend and baby daddy Darius Jackson.

Amid the family drama, Palmer is still working around the clock as she was recently announced to be hosting the 2023 BET Soul Train Awards.

The 2023 BET Soul Train Awards host was announced to be former Nickelodeon star turned actress Keke Palmer. The show will be premiering on Nov. 26, 2024, taped in Los Angeles.

"Keke Palmer is a globally recognized multihyphenate talent who embodies confidence and positivity and is one of the most engaging and lovable personalities working in entertainment today. We can't wait to have her host the Soul Train Awards house party," BET EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy Connie Orlando said in a press release.

BET reminded that they were the first one to give Keke Palmer her first talk show, "Just Keke" in 2014, making her the youngest talk show host in television history.

"Today we are honored to have her back on the Soul Train Awards stage. As always, expect our star-studded slate of soulful artists and can't-miss moments to illuminate your screens for a night dedicated to soul music," the release furthered.

2023 BET Soul Train Awards Nominees

Usher, SZA, and Summer Walker lead the 2023 BET Soul Train Awards Nominees with nine nominations each. 21 Savage follows with eight nods while Coco Jones and Victoria Monét are tied with six nods. Janelle Monae, Chris Brown, and Burna Boy go home with four nods each. (via Billboard)

Keke Palmer, Darius Jackson Domestic Violence

On Nov. 10, 2023, Keke Palmer filed a temporary restraining order against Darius Jackson in Los Angeles Supreme Court and was eventually granted. (via NBC News)

She complained about Jackson for emotionally and physically abusing her, writing in her complaint that he has "repeatedly" attacked her, trespassed at her home, and become "very frustrated" with their 8-month-old child.

"It is because of our son, Leo, that I was finally able to end my relationship with Darius once and for all and escape the abuse," Palmer wrote in the documents. "Leo is the most important thing in the entire world to me; he needs and deserves to be safe and grow up in an environment free from violence."

As of this writing, Palmer has been granted sole custody of their child, with no visitation rights from Jackson.
